A Statement of Appreciation

Your Excellencies the President of the Constitutional Court of Thailand,
Honorable Judges,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

We are very happy to make a statement as a representative of the World Tipiṭaka Council of Japan. We thank you for presenting us the World Tipiṭaka in the Roman Script as a Royal Gift from the Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana, at this special place --the Constitutional Court of Thailand... the National Institution which received the Inaugural Tipiṭaka Edition as a Royal Gift-- and on this special memorial day, the eve of the Royal Cremation of late Royal Patron.

We deeply respect the fact that the World Tipiṭaka in the Roman Script has been completed by the magnanimous support of the late Princess Galyani Vadhana, together with the grand efforts of the Chancellor of the Dhamma Society Thailand and their patrons. Adding to this, we have been told, the high-speed digital printing technology of Fuji-Xerox has made it possible for the publication of this 40-volume edition.

In Japan, already 16 institutes have been presented with the Royal Gift of the World Tipiṭaka in the Roman script. Scholars from those institutes all agree that this World Tipiṭaka Edition is a kind of miracle and a better edition will unlikely to appear in the future. Moreover, they really appreciate and admire this World Edition which will help tremendously the study of the Pāḷi language and Tipiṭaka Studies.

We are very honoured to have been invited to the royal funeral ceremonies. On this occasion, we want to reassure the royal wish of the late Princess Patron that we will contribute as much as possible to Wisdom and Peace by disseminating this edition further, which we understand, is the goal of the World Tipiṭaka Project.

ข้าพเจ้ารู้สึกยินดีอย่างยิ่งที่ได้มากล่าวในนาม “สภาพระไตรปิฎกสากลแห่งประเทศญี่ปุ่น”. เราทั้งหลายขอขอบพระคุณสำหรับพระไตรปิฎกสากลที่ได้รับมอบเป็นพระธัมมทานจาก สมเด็จพระเจ้าพี่นางเธอ เจ้าฟ้ากัลยาณิวัฒนา กรมหลวงนราธิวาสราชนครินทร์ ณ สถานที่พิเศษแห่งนี้ --ศาลรัฐธรรมนูญแห่งราชอาณาจักรไทย สถาบันที่ได้รับพระราชทานพระไตรปิฎกชุดปฐมฤกษ์-- และในวันที่อนุสรณ์รำลึกบำเพ็ญกุศลออกพระเมรุ เนื่องในพิธีพระราชทานเพลิงขององค์อุปถัมภ์พระไตรปิฎกสากล

เราทั้งหลายตระหนักว่า พระไตรปิฎกสากลฉบับนี้สำเร็จลุล่วงด้วยพระอุปถัมภ์ในสมเด็จพระเจ้าพี่นางเธอ เจ้าฟ้ากัลยาณิวัฒนา กรมหลวงนราธิวาสราชนครินทร์ ซึ่งเป็นพระกรุณาธิคุณที่ยิ่งใหญ่เหนือคำบรรยาย พร้อมทั้งความวิริยะอุตสาหะของนายกกองทุนสนทนาธัมม์นำสุขฯ ในพระสังฆราชูปถัมภ์ฯ และผู้อุปถัมภ์ชาวไทยทั้งมวล. นอกจากนี้ เรายังได้รับทราบว่า ระบบเทคโนโลยีดิจิตอลการพิมพ์ความเร็วสูงของ ฟูจิ-ซีร็อกซ์ ทำให้สามารถจัดพิมพ์พระไตรปิฎก ชุด 40 เล่ม ฉบับนี้ ได้สำเร็จ

ในประเทศญี่ปุ่น มีสถาบัน 16 สถาบันที่ได้รับพระราชทานพระไตรปิฎกสากลอักษรโรมัน นักวิชาการทั้งหลายต่างมีความเห็นตรงกันว่าพระไตรปิฎกสากลฉบับนี้นับเป็น สิ่งอัศจรรย์ และฉบับที่จะสมบูรณ์กว่านี้คงจะไม่สามารถจัดทำขึ้นได้อีกในอนาคต. นอกจากนั้นทุกคนล้วนประทับใจและชื่นชมพระไตรปิฎกสากล ซึ่งจะเป็นฉบับที่สนับสนุนครั้งยิ่งใหญ่แก่การศึกษาภาษาปาฬิ และพระไตรปิฎกศึกษา.

เราทั้งหลายรู้สึกเป็นเกียรติที่ได้รับเชิญมาร่วมงานพระราชพิธีบำเพ็ญกุศลใน งานพระศพและในโอกาสนี้ เราขอสืบทอดพระราชปณิธานขององค์อุปถัมภ์ผู้เสด็จสู่สวรรคาลัยว่า. เราทั้งหลายจะเผยแผ่พระไตรปิฎกสากลฉบับนี้อย่างเต็มที่และทุกวิธีทางเพื่อ ประโยชน์ทางปัญญาและสันติสุข ซึ่งข้าพเจ้าตระหนักดีว่า เป็นจุดหมายของโครงการพระไตรปิฎกสากล.
